//tb's graphics + layouts portfolio
tb. // tangentburdHello, tb here! This is a portfolio/minisite for graphics-related work that I've done for fanzines and other community projects under the name @tangentburd.Disclaimer:
No, not formally trained in graphic design. I just dig good-looking visuals and try to make some myself sometimes. Still learning to be a little looser in my concepts though!Tools of the trade:
Usually Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; sometimes Figma and Canva. I like messing with HTML/CSS on the side too.Meanwhile I do draw and write, but on a very casual basis these days. See my art Carrd here or reach out to me on other platforms:
Here are some zines and community fandom projects I've worked on, in a full or intern mod capacity. My roles were mainly in graphics, formatting and art, but I also helped out with organisation (something I'm very particular about) and communications as and when needed.For a more complete listing of my zine experience, check out the Projects page on my art Carrd!
// Role: Episode Cover DesignerA podcast dedicated to the Lockwood & Co. YA book series by Jonathan Stroud. The podcast is helmed by Lizzie (SciroccoOrion), Máiréad (Savoirfaire), Meg (menina123) and Natssha (hailqiqi), and explores a bunch of fan-favourite topics related to the book series' story universe and characters.I was invited to create the graphics (logo, icons, episode covers) for this project, and decided on a fun stencil-inspired motif of a little ghost hovering over books with an iron chain bookmark. The episode covers all follow a design template that's easy to read as a podcast thumbnail, but I also have a great time customising them based on the episode topic (yes, especially the parody and ~aesthetic~ ones!).// Project links: Wix, Tumblr, Twitter/X, Instagram▼ Podcast: Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music
